How to: Install a ESDI hard drive controller card.

Observe ESD considerations, and install the legacy ESDI hard drive controller card.

WARNING: Electrical shock hazard! Make sure the power is turned off and the external power cables have been disconnected before removing the computer cover.
CAUTION 1: This task should be performed by a qualified computer technician.
CAUTION 2: Please observe steps to reduce the potential damage to computer components from electrostatic discharge.
NOTE 1: Skip steps 1) through 12) if you are installing a new ESDI hard drive controller and cannot boot your computer from a hard drive.
NOTE 2: Refer to the ESDI hard drive controller adapter card manual to determine which IRQ values and I/O addresses can be set using jumpers on the card.
NOTE 3: ESDI hard drive controllers cannot co-exist with active IDE or EIDE hard drive controllers in a computer. If there is an active IDE or EIDE hard drive in the computer, you will need to disable it before installing the ESDI hard drive controller
NOTE 4: Some ESDI hard drive controller adapter card also include a floppy drive controller. If you are not going to use the floppy drive controller on the ESDI hard drive controller adapter card, disable the floppy drive controller before installing the adapter card. Refer to the adapter card manual or contact next-level support for further instructions.
